The Quartics QV1721 provides the industry's premier System-on-a-chip (SoC) for a
feature-rich High Definition IP STB. The IP STB can now offer true screen-shifting
(PC, TV, Mobile) without requiring any additional boxes or software. The IP STB
now becomes the focal point for any digital media content being displayed or shared
within the home.
The Quartics QV1721, firmware, and associated software stacks allow telcos and other
service providers to offer their subscribers the delivery of quality-enhanced HD
Internet and traditional content.
Quartics’ Qvu™ Video processing technology
includes support for decoding, encoding, and transcoding of all industry standard
popular codecs and supports HD resolutions up to 1080p. Available codecs include
MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, VC-1 and Flash, allowing a subscriber to view most of the
content on the Internet in HD.
Support for HD encoding enables advanced applications such as High Definition Live
Chat or video teleconferencing, editing subscriber content , (such as pictures and
videos), and efficiently compressing subscriber content in HD to save storage space
on home servers and iPods. Transcoding support provides the ability to transfer
content from one codec to another to conform to device capability. An example of
a supported transcoding application is transferring video content stored on the
home server to an iPod to take on the road.
The Quartics SoC includes support for security, designed to provide complete content
protection such as that mandated by Blu-ray (AACS, BD+) and other Conditional Access
schemes commonly used in the IP STB market.
