ARCHITECTURE DETAIL -- A NEW APPROACH
Video processing solutions from other companies are often large, difficult to program and power-hungry. They are typically fixed-function solutions that are inflexible and which cannot keep up with fast developing, new requirements such as AVS and pre/post processing.
Quartics’ core technology, by contrast, is an ideal video processor providing a codec-agnostic solution at a cost comparable to ASIC. The revolutionary architecture makes competing solutions obsolete by hardware and software partitioning the media processing problems into three levels of parallelism: Coarse, Medium & Fine Grain.
This partitioning enables a simplified programming model that requires less silicon area, less CPU speed, and less power resulting in the world’s first single-chip, low-cost, programmable HD encode, decode, transcode and post-processing IC.
